HomeWise Inspections uses the latest in infrared technology on all home inspections performed. Infrared thermography or a thermal imaging inspection is a non-invasive study of infrared light emitted from surfaces and systems in a building. By using infrared technology, we may be able to diagnose defects that aren't visible with the human eye. Some of the problems that might be uncovered using infrared inspection include overloaded and undersized circuit breakers and circuits, areas of moisture intrusion and or water leaks that could lead to mold problems, heating and cooling system defects, missing /damaged or improperly installed insulation, dangerous flue leaks, outside air infiltration through doors and windows that increase your energy bill, damaged or malfunctioning radiant heat systems, and possible pest infestation such us bee or wasp colonies and even mice nests.
There are different factors that may limit the performance of a inspection using a thermal camera. Infrared thermography is best performed when there is a difference in temperature between the inside and outside of a home. At HomeWise Inspections we take a building science approach to performing infrared inspections so that we can provide the most effective results to our clients.
